HOW TO COMPLETELY REMODEL YOUR BATHROOM

Completely remodeling your bathroom is a project that can be difficult and time consuming. There are several steps that need to be taken to completely satisfy all your needs and ideas.

Remodeling bathrooms has always been Aaron Plumbing’s forte. We have successfully remodeled more than 350 bathrooms throughout the state and understand that the key to being able to satisfy each and every one of your needs is listening, suggesting, and planning with our customers.

For this ‘Free Tip’ we will breakdown all the necessary steps that need to be completed in order to have that new bathroom that you always dreamed of.

STEP ONE: Determine an amount of money that you can not only afford, but that you think is reasonable. The average size bathroom usually cost between $15,000 and $20,000 to completely remodel depending on what fixtures, items and accessories you choose.

STEP TWO: Decide whether or not you want a tub or a shower in your bathroom. With a tub, you are not only able to take a bathe but shower as well. Also decide on a toilet, which we can suggest a good flushing one for you.

STEP THREE: The color and style of your bathroom can be the most effective way to receive a compliment when the project is complete. A quick reminder, the lighter the color the bigger and brighter the bathroom will look when complete. White fixtures as well as tile with some type of color scheme in the tile is the most common.

STEP FOUR: The sink is one part of the bathroom that you want to fit all your specific needs. Do you want a pedestal sink, wall hung sink or a vanity with a sink top. Vanity with a sink top is the most common because it allows for more closet type of space. If that is your choice then you must decide on a sink top. Make sure you receive all the proper information on which ever item you choose. You can receive that information from us or any plumbing supply store.

STEP FIVE: Picking out a faucet and a shower valve is important. Most faucets and shower valves come in chrome polish but you can also choose a brass finish as well. There are different brands on the market, but we suggest selecting a well-known faucet so parts are easily accessible in the future should problems arise. Top quality faucets include Delta, Kohler and Grohe. Delta is perhaps the most-reasonably priced and is easiest to get parts for. For shower valves, we strongly suggest using a Symmons brand shower valve.

STEP SIX: Do you want a tile floor and walls or do you want a tile floor and painted or wallpapered walls? You can also have a linoleum floor as well. This step is the most important step for the complete look and design of your bathroom. If you go with tile, remember that the larger and lighter the tile the bigger your bathroom will look when complete. We suggest using 8x8 or 12x12 tiles on the floor and using 6x8 or 8x10 in the tub area and/or walls. The look of the 90’s and the future is still tile. It is available in so many different shapes, sizes and colors and when it is installed on cement board (which is important) it will last for years to come. The most common bathroom that we complete is with a tile floor and tiled tub area only. The second is a tile floor with a tiled tub area and tile four feet high along all walls. This is one step that you should go to a tile showroom to hand pick the exact size, shape and color of tile that you would want.

STEP SEVEN: Lighting the bathroom. There are many ways to light a bathroom: you can have ceiling lights, lights above your medicine cabinet, and/or a ceiling fan/light combination. We suggest going to a showroom for this as well.

AND ALSO DON’T FORGET ABOUT…

As you can see there is a lot of work to do when completing a great looking, properly installed long-lasting bathroom. Everything and every step you see above can also be picked out of catalogs and samples which our company can supply you with. Even if you never want to leave your house we can complete the bathroom of your dreams, although picking out each and everything can be fun and exciting if time is available to you.
